I’m Aware: What Are You Saying To God?

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:30-31

It use to take me a long time to tell God, “Yes.” I would pray about my dreams and my visions forever without action. I lived in a state of fear and doubt with the meditation “I can’t” conjuring up excuse after excuse and paralyzing my future.

“I can’t” kills the soul. I’ve wasted so much time, essentially life, telling God, “I can’t.” I cared more about what the world thought of me living my dreams than about pleasing God and living on purpose. I also made the common mistake of trying to do things in my own limited strength.

It took death to release me from my own mental slavery, and even then I limped slowly out of the cage of doubt and fear. This year, the lord has said no more. He is tired of my cautiousness when it comes to matters, which He predestined and made to flow from my heart.

I saw a beautiful production yesterday, by Dr. John W. Graves. The title of it was “Moses.” There is a particular scene in the play that moved me to tears and stirred up my soul. It comes from the book of Exodus 3 when Moses receives his assignment from God.

God tells Moses to be his messenger and send warning to Pharaoh to free His people. In the play Moses replies, “What if I don’t want to?”

God says ‘Who cares?!”

My God! Do you know that the Lord has been harassing me like this and probably you too? I tell Him I don’t want to do something, and He says, “Who cares.” I wait and I wait thinking that he will change his mind, and eventually I just change mine. Because God Is God! He called me into existence! How can we tell the great I am, “No?”

God does not care about our man made insecurities. He is for us and He loves us. When he calls us, he qualifies us. There is no more time to waste. We must be about our Father’s business. No matter how long we vacillate, in the end God Will have his way.

If there is something weighing heavy on your heart that you feel like you must do, and you have been allowing fear, doubt, money, credentials, or whatever stop you, do it NOW. All the matters of your heart are true and placed inside you by God. If God be for you, who can be against you? No one! God is God.

My new favorite response to God is “Yes.” and in the words of the great playwright Dr. JWG, “I will allow Gods love to inspire my fears to death. I am Moses.”

I know what I am called to do, and I know why. I have no idea about how, but “NOW faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1-2 Making room for the strength and power of God, I take faithful steps towards my destiny. What are you saying to God?
