Clarissa Joan Middleton
A Living Witness To The Word of God
C larissa Joan Middleton received her B.S in Finance, Cum Laude, from The Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University in 2009. Currently, she is pursuing her MFA at The University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. Her course of study is the integration of faith-based content and interactive media.
By way of her cross-disciplinary directed research with the USC Office of Religious Life and the SCA Interactive Media and Games Division, Clarissa is focused on developing a proof of concept for her belief that interactive media has an unprecedented capacity to be an agent for social change. More specifically, Clarissa is studying how virtual reality, non-linear story telling through web-based platforms, and massive open online courses can be leveraged to advance the human development framework of nobel laureate Amaryta Sen which currently does not include spiritual and emotional wellness as indicators of human flourishing. Prior to her studies at USC, Clarissa worked for 7 years experience in corporate finance, business strategy, impact investing, and communications. Mrs. Middleton served individual clients as a contract consultant in her areas of expertise.
Clarissa is also a talented writer whose work can be appreciated on Moguldom Media’s digital publication MadameNoire, a lifestyle publication catering to 9 million African American women monthly and her proprietary platform, The Clarissa Joan Experience, a multi-media inspirational platform focused on spiritual, emotional wellness and leadership content. In August of 2016, she relocated to Los Angeles, California with her husband, Theo, and their daughters, Genesis and Viva.
